Speaker 1: Dr. Fred Y. Ye (Ying Ye). He is the professor of DaKES Institute (www.dakes.org) in USA and a fellow in European Academy of Sciences and Arts. Before he moved to the US, he was a full professor in Nanjing University (2012-2022) and Zhejiang University (2002-2012), as well as adjunct professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University. Prof. Ye is an interdisciplinary scholar. His academic contributions focus on scientific metrics with interdisciplinary applications and h-type metrics for network analysis, as well as bookics to initiate library science.
In his keynote presentation, AI- GPT Technical Applications with Impact, he will concisely discuss some opportunities and challenges in utilizing generative AI tools in future, including libraries, based on the AI-GPT tech quick development and typical extensions. It is strengthened that this is a new technical revolution.
Speaker 2: Dr. Liu Wei (Keven). He is the Deputy Director of Shanghai Library and Institute of Scientific and Technological Information of Shanghai. He is also an adjunct professor of Fudan University, East China Normal University and a doctoral mentor Shanghai University, and give lectures on Digital Libraries and Digital Humanities. He took part in many major Digital Library projects in China since 1995. He is in charge of the information technology application in Shanghai Library and very active in developing “Smart Library” services for the Library. He is also the Vice Chairman of National Society of Sci-Tech Information, and board member of the Open Library Foundation and Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI).
In his keynote presentation, LLM enabled LSP: Scenarios and Possibilities, he will discuss the stunning effect of the LLM that has led to the high expectation of generative artificial intelligence (AGI), and its impact will gradually be realized in the next generation of Library Service Platforms, thus empowering librarians in their daily work. Last year, the Shanghai Library, together with the Fudan University Library and Shanghai Jiaotong University Library, as well as a number of Chinese companies serving libraries, founded the “Yunhan Community” (i.e., “Smart Library Technology and Application Alliance”), which released the “White Paper on Large Language Model application in smart libraries”. It will further release a white paper on AGI in library scenarios. In this talk, we will discuss how library workflow, services and management will apply AGI, and how library service platform (LSP) will adapt and change.
